Nepal Protests Lipulekh Trade Route Agreement
Kathmandu, 2025 – Nepal is once more concerned about the Lipulekh trade route. It’s a region along the border disputed by Nepal, India, and China. The question again arose after there were reports of an agreement to increase trade through the Lipulekh Pass, but Nepal wasn’t party to it.
Nepal has always maintained that Lipulekh, close to Kalapani and Limpiyadhura, belongs to it. But India and China have exchanged trade talks and agreements on the route. According to Nepal, this injures its rights over the land.
Nepal’s Foreign Ministry, in a statement, stated that any agreement on Lipulekh without Nepal’s approval is not acceptable. The officials stated that the government will continue to attempt to defend Nepal’s land through negotiations.
Folks believe the Lipulekh controversy is about borders and commerce and security in the Himalayas. The road is crucial for bilateral trade between India and China, but Nepal feels marginalized and that is generating political issues.
Most folks in Nepal demand the government resist both nations. Experts maintain that to rectify it, the three nations need to negotiate, as unilateral decisions will only worsen.
Currently, the Lipulekh trade route is still an issue in the Nepal-India-China relationship. It illustrates how complicated issues are in the Himalayan frontier region.
